Royalty Producer Modules Overview

Royalty Producer is
network-server-database
a modular system. You can select the desired features to satisfy your current royalty needs when ordering the software. Additional modules and extensions can be purchased and easily added later, at any time. We ensure that you only invest in necessary features at a given time and we preserve your investment by enabling you to extend the system whenever you need it. Please review our Configuration Example page to see some scenarios.

Core Engine: administer all catalogs, songs and meta data

The core engine is the basis for all royalty modules. It features the necessary databases and layouts to administer all meta data like songs, playlists and label copy information under a unlimited number of "sublabels".

All licensees, licensors, download stores and distributors have a decent place where you can access additional information like import settings, contracts and statements. All import and export tasks of meta data and sales information is handled by the core engine. Data for business intelligence use is provided by a reporting engine for all sales, digital and physical.

All currencies are supported for incoming sales and outgoing royalty statements. The standard core engine is limited to 100 releases (products) and 1000 songs and is able to administer albums, singles, maxis, compilations and sublicenses. We included an EAN, UPC and ISRC code generator for your convenience, too.

Digital Royalty Module: manage and compute royalties on digital sales

The digital royalty module transforms all digital sales like downloads, streams and subscriptions income into well designed royalty statements. An unlimited number of contracts can be set up for every licensor (artist, label). The contract system is used to define the royalty settings for a specific deal, like in reality.

As many contracts are structured in a similar way, a contract template feature is used to ease the creation of new contracts. The system allows for different shares on full album and single song downloads. A contract can distinguish between different types of income, like full downloads, high quality downloads, streams, etc. if you wish so. A different royalty share can be applied for every type of income that has been defined.

The same applies to the territories set up. You can define groups of countries for every single contract and automatically set a different royalty share for different territories. The digital royalty module is not limited to music sales: It can easily process all other digital sales like software, e-books, pictures, movies and fonts.

Physical Royalty Module: manage and compute physical sales

The physical royalty module is optimized to process physical sales and returns. The contracts of this royalty engine allow for specialized treatment of physical sales. You can set up different technical deductions for every format, a

llow for the creation and automatic release of reserves for returns, automatically set deductions, based on price reductions (mid price, low price, budget and sell out) and calculate different shares, based on quantity scales. Naturally, all contracts allow for different royalty shares for different territory groups. As the systems supports an unlimited number of contracts for every licensor, the user is able to manage cross-colateralization issues in a very sophisticated way via contract groups.

Optionally, the system can calculate royalties, based on a profit split. Naturally all advances and expenses are tracked and respected on the royalty statements. Physical sales reports can be easily imported by identifying releases via their EAN, UPC or Catalog No. The physical royalty module can also process sales of merchandise, books, DVDs and many more.

Publishing Module: manage and to compute publishing income

The publishing module allows for even complex royalty situations like sub-publishing and edition deals. The number of participating authors, composers, lyricist and publishing companies is not limited. As the indie business

demands for much more flexibility than major publishing companies, the system offers an unlimited number of different shares for the licensors, depending on the income type. For example, a synch deal can distribute different percentages, depending on whether deal was initiated by your company or by the original rights holder. Naturally, a very powerful import option allows for mass importing complete new catalogs. Songs can own an unlimited number of identification numbers, e.g. from different collecting societies in order to enable you to import publishing income data from various sources.

The publishing module is fully integrated with the recording rights section of the system, which is exceptional in the software industry. By using a single, central song database for both, recording and publishing rights, a typical independent music company that offers both, recording and publishing deals, is able to reduce administration costs significantly.

Sublicense Module: manage and control 3rd party license income

The sublicense module not only allows you to process income from sublicenses to 3rd parties, such as compilation companies, but also offers a sophisticated control feature to track all agreements and payment duties for licensees. A special contract feature takes care about your artist agreements and you can select between a simple share on the net income and a sophisticated, unit based calculation wth duction options. When entering incoming royalty statements, the user is able to review the underlying, agreed deal memo with a click of a button. An automated reminder function allows you to create reminders for a licensee where all missing royalty statements or missing specimen copies are listed along with the licensee’s catalog number, product name and the affected period. This tool has been created and refined by cooperating with some of the biggest labels in the dance music business. It turned out that a label can constantly reclaim about 10%-15% of its sublicense income when using the reminder features.

Management Module: compute royalties from mangement contracts

The management module takes care of the correct breakdown of your management income. Different shares for different income types can be assigned on a per contract basis. Naturally, management royalties can show up on one royalty statement, together with physical and digital sales. Royalty Producer's cross-colateralization features allow for fine-grained definitions for the relationships between the different contract types: recording rights, publishing rights and management deals.

US Mechanicals Module: manage and compute mechanical reports for the US

The US mechanicals module is prepared to handle physical and digital mechanicals. The reports can be addressed to collecting societies like Harry Fox or directly to authors and publishers. Beside the statutory rate that can be easily changed in the preferences, every song can emit a special rate, depending on your deals. Mechanical rates can be capped if induced by the sale of full product (physical or digital).

The included export features will make your partners really happy as they can easily post-process your statements. The resulting reports include all song information that is needed to identify each line, as well as the source of the underlying sale, e.g. the download store that sold an MP3.

Multi Company Option: manage multiple companies and their royalty needs

We re-designed the administration logic of Royalty Producer to support royalty bureaus and similar companies, that are charged with royalty calculations for multiple companies.Setting up multiple companies is a snap and every company is represented with its own logo and letterhead on their royalty statements.
